Patsy’s Pizzeria, the iconic New York institution that recently debuted its new downtown flagship at the Freehand New York Hotel, will offer a three-course Mother’s Day prix fixe menu this year.

Priced at $65 per person, the menu features a mix of greatest hits alongside new signature dishes from Chef Pietro Aletto. Starters include options like tuna crudo and little gem caesar salad, followed by mains such as housemade candele alla Genovese, linguine alle vongole, or a choice of signature Margherita or Pepperoni pies.

The meal concludes with a dessert course, including a celebratory Neapolitan Rum Cake, served with crema pasticcera.

Founded by Pasquale “Patsy” Lancieri and his wife, Carmella, in East Harlem in 1933, Patsy’s was one of New York City’s original coal-oven pizzerias and has been credited with inventing the New York slice. Frank Brija took over the restaurant in 1991 after working for the Lancieri family for many years.

Outstanding coal-fired pizza isn’t Patsy’s only claim to fame. The cast and crew of The Godfather famously held table readings and dinners there before principal photography began. Frank Sinatra used to have Patsy’s pies flown to him on his private jet.

The company opened its new downtown Manhattan location at Freehand New York in March in a partnership with Promise Hospitality Group. The restaurant seats 96 people and features near-century-old classics like the Classic New York, the Margherita, the Hot Soppressata and more. Other signature pies include the Spicy ‘Nduja and the White Truffle.

Freehand New York, meanwhile, was once home to many storied writers, musicians and other creatives.
