(Press release), Chicago, May 30, 2013 – Giordano’s Famous Stuffed Pizza – Chicago’s number-one deep dish pizza maker since 1974 – is now number one in yet another way, as the restaurant announces that it is the first restaurant to receive a license from the City of Chicago to cook and sell deep dish pizza from a brand-new state-of-the-art food truck.

“At Giordano’s, we’re always looking for new ways to satisfy our customers, and there is no better way to meet their needs than by bringing our irresistible pizza and other favorites straight to them,” said Giordano’s Famous Stuffed Pizza CEO Yorgo Koutsogiorgas. “The food truck movement continues to grow across the country, especially right here in Chicago, and we’re thrilled to be the very first Chicago pizza restaurant to obtain a license from the City to prepare food on a truck.”

Giordano’s has received a Mobile Vehicle Prepare license, making it the first pizza truck to obtain the license in the City of Chicago. Koutsogiorgas said Giordano’s likes to think of the new food truck as its “41st restaurant.” The company has 40 brick-and-mortar locations in Chicagoland.

There is a huge demand for Giordano’s deliciously satisfying stuffed deep dish pies across Chicago, particularly favorite varieties sausage, pepperoni, spinach and cheese. The new 28-foot-long and 12.5-foot-tall Giordano’s food truck is 100 percent equipped and ready to meet the existing need, which is sure to grow with the new increased availability of their menu items. The dream ride can comfortably hold up to 400 generously sized personal pies, even as the truck continues to churn out more pizza for on-the-go customers.

Koutsogiorgas said that when designing the truck, Giordano’s proceeded exactly as it does with making its pizzas – purposefully, with attention to every detail. The entire food truck development process, from concept to securing the license, took about one calendar year, he said, adding that he thinks Giordano’s patrons will find it worth the wait.

“We didn’t just build a food truck,” Koutsogiorgas said. “We built THE food truck. It was conceptualized by a top-of-the-line design team and built by a leading manufacturer of custom food trucks. It’s green as a food truck can be. The bio-diesel engine produces a certified clean idle.”

What’s for sale aboard Giordano’s food truck? Executive Chef Russell Bry said customers can expect the exact same quality food they’ve come to love at Giordano’s, simply from a convenient mobile location. Personal pizzas, salads, soft drinks and other Giordano’s favorites all will be made available and served in green packaging, Bry said.

The Giordano’s food truck will be pulling up and parking in fun places all over town, including private events, city events and festivals, and throughout the Chicago Park District (along Lake Shore Drive, at the museum campuses, and more).
