“Soccer coaches, bowlers, teachers and friends came out last week to help raise more than $3,000 at Nick’s Pizza and Pub in Elgin for a 16-year-old man in need of a double lung transplant,” reports TribLocal.com.

“’It was overwhelming,’ said Melissa White, a teacher at Horizon Elementary in Hanover Park, of the event held to help cover the costs associated with relocating her family to St. Louis when the time comes for her son, Greg’s operation. The transplant will be done at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. ‘There were so many different people from so many different facets of life,’ she said. ‘It was very heartwarming.’”
