Here’s a pizza collab that’s sure to fly in New Haven: Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, the legendary apizza brand, is partnering with Connecticut-based Pratt & Whitney, a global leader in aircraft engine design and manufacturing.

Yes, you read that right. It’s one of the year’s stranger collabs, but it makes sense on a certain level: Both Frank Pepe’s and Pratt & Whitney are celebrating their 100th anniversaries this year. Not to mention that Pratt & Whitney is one of Connecticut’s top employers (11,000-plus workers), so it’s a name most customers will recognize.

To celebrate their centennial anniversaries, the companies partnered up on a bold new co-branded menu addition as well as a shared commitment to giving back with a contribution to Feeding America.

The new specialty LTO pizza is called the Pratt & Whitney Afterburner Pizza, and it’s available now through October 31 at all 17 Frank Pepe’s locations. The name is inspired by afterburner devices sometimes added to jet engines to increase their thrust. The pie itself features Frank Pepe’s popular Doppio Pepperoni drizzled with Mike’s Hot Honey for an extra kick.

Interesting side note: The Afterburner marks the first time hot honey has been featured on Frank Pepe’s menu in its 100-year history.

At the conclusion of the month, Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana and Pratt & Whitney will each donate $2,500 to Feeding America. The contributions will support CT Foodshare and Feeding America’s food banks across the country, helping families facing hunger as the holidays approach.
