Pizza is the ultimate comfort food, but a pizza chain in the U.K. has figured out how to make it downright scary to look at. As part of this year’s Halloween celebration, Pizza Express has created four new pizzas designed to give you the creeps while you eat.

The pizzas are the work of food artist Prudence Staite, and, although they feature all the usual toppings you’d expect on an artisan pizza, they’re arranged to form images that could haunt you well past dinnertime. In keeping with the current stateside obsession with evil clowns lurking in the woods, Staite and Pizza Express came up with a pie featuring a clown’s garish face and multi-colored wig, topped with mozzarella, asparagus, peppers and a bright, red cherry tomato for the nose.

Then there’s the flesh-eating zombie, made with prosciutto ham, olives, green peppers and mozzarella as well as a pie that depicts a woman with a spider crawling out of her mouth (ham, olives, peppers and passata). Finally, a death-skull pie, featuring pesto, mozzarella, pepperoni and black olives, beckons us from the grave.

Pizza Express has also been running a special promotion allowing customers to submit their own scary-pizza designs. The winning design earns a Pizza Express voucher worth 500 pounds and will be featured on local pizzerias’ Halloween day menus. Some Pizza Express stores have also invited children to attend pizza-making classes and design their own frightful pies for the holiday.
