Chron.com reports, “Mike Rawlings, who formerly ran Pizza Hut, was sworn in Monday as the new mayor of Dallas.”
“‘I’ve always found great success in building the right team for each challenge and making sure they are invested in success,’ said Rawlings, who has pledged to focus on economic development. Rawlings, who took the oath of office at the Meyerson Symphony Center downtown, defeated former Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle in a runoff election on June 18. The post opened up when Tom Leppert resigned in February to run for U.S. Senate. Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway served as interim mayor after Leppert stepped down. Leppert, who was elected in 2007, was the former chief executive officer of a construction company.”
