The pizza scene in The Bronx, New York, has gotten more diverse, as a new Little Caesars franchise store has started serving pies at 3961 White Plains Road.
First-time Little Caesars franchisee Suhel Ahmed opened the 1,000-square-foot location on May 7 and held the official grand opening celebration on May 30, with free large Hot-N-Ready pizzas given away to the first 100 customers.
There’s no shortage of independent pizza shops in The Bronx, with favorites like Pugsley Pizza serving Fordham University students since the 1980s and Full Moon Pizza plating classic pies since 1976, not to mention the venerable Louie & Ernie’s and the hip Zero Otto Nove, among others.
But, it seems, even Bronxites want to rush in and rush out for a $5 Detroit-style “pizza pizza” now and then. And large chains like Little Caesars give entrepreneurs the chance to get into the pizza business with a powerhouse name brand behind them instead of starting from scratch. “It’s always been a dream of mine to own my own business,” Ahmed said, “and the Bronx community provides a perfect opportunity to combine that dream with my love of pizza.”
Along with the free pizza giveaway, the Little Caesars store gave away goodies from a prize wheel and free samples from the menu, while letting customers pose with the Little Caesars mascot. After the ribbon cutting, Ahmed presented a $1,000 check to the Bronx Bethany Community Corporation, which supports children in the community facing food insecurity.
