“Leaders of five national farm organizations and the Renewable Fuels Association took that message to the press via teleconference May 28,” said the story. “The whole question of food versus fuel is creating angst in many areas of the nation, and around the globe, said Bob Dinneen, president of the Renewable Fuels Association. “There are many causes of increased food prices around the globe,” Dinneen said. “Demand and speculation in the marketplace are affecting all commodities. The most important factor is $130 per barrel oil. That’s clearly having a devastating impact on the nation’s economy, and driving inflation across the world. Our opponents say while that may be true, the only thing we can do anything about is the ethanol program.” Dinneen said ethanol is actually keeping fuel prices 15 percent lower than they would be otherwise.”
