Florence, KY – November 9, 2009 – The proof is in the pudding – oops – pizza. Kim and Phil Santamassino spent years perfecting their gourmet pizza. The proof came one year after opening their first location; their BLT pizza earned the coveted title, ‘Best Pizza in Kentucky’ at national competitions.
Now the entrepreneurial couple expands their operation into Florence, KY. The Florence location will host a grand opening celebration November 14 and 15, 2009. “In today’s market, opening another store is a reason to party and we have pulled out all the stops”, said Kim Santamassino.
The weekend event will feature Nicky’s signature pizza and entertainment. The Santamassino’s added, “Our marketing approach can be summarized as A&T — Awareness plus Trial. The highway has plenty of dining choices. We are banking on the power of good old fashioned – free.” Free slices of Nicky’s pizza will be distributed over the weekend of November 14, 2009 to confirm the pizzeria’s status in the greater Cincinnati area during the grand opening.
While the Santamassino’s have confidence in their product, they also want to give back to the metro area that has supported them. A special attraction this weekend will be the appearance of World Pizza Champion, Joe Carlucci. Carlucci is the World Guinness record holder of the highest dough toss, 22.5 feet. He is also a three time world champion pizza acrobat. In addition to entertaining crowds, Carlucci’s high-energy interactive show will share his ‘as seen on TV’ skills with area residents.
Kim Santamassino stated, “We have learned a lot in the past 5 years, Phil and I want to share that with the Florence community.” Santamassino adds, ”We take to heart what customers are asking for so we incorporated that in our new location.” The Florence location embraces the fast casual theme of dining, staffed by 20 employees, offers a more upscale experience with table service for 60, beer and an all-you-can eat buffet.
