LONDON, December 1/PRNewswire/ —

– Local Business Reveals New Charity of Choice

A new partnership between Domino’s Pizza and Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB) has been unveiled this month. The launch was attended by renowned football manager and charity Chairman Lawrie McMenemy MBE, SOGB athlete Georgina Hulme and Domino’s store owners from across the UK.

SOGB is a voluntary organisation which specialises in year-round, local-level sports training for people with learning disabilities as well as local, national and international competition. As dedicated fundraisers, Domino’s Head Office and 400 plus stores across the country have launched the ‘Dough To Go’ campaign to raise the much kneaded dough to help local SOGB athletes get to the 2007 World Summer Games in Shanghai.

The pizza delivery company will also be hosting a series of ‘Come and Try’ sporting events throughout the UK to spread the word about SOGB and recruit new athletes to participate in different sports at all levels.

Chris Moore, Chief Operating Officer comments; “At Domino’s we are committed to delivering much more than just a great-tasting pizza. We have formed this partnership with SOGB because we are inspired by the passion and enthusiasm of their staff, volunteers and athletes. Our support will enable SOGB to raise much-needed funds and perhaps more importantly attract new volunteers and athletes.”

Lawrie McMenemy MBE, Chairman of SOGB responds: “We are delighted that Domino’s Pizza has chosen SOGB as its charity of choice at a time where vital funds are needed to get talented athletes to the 2007 World Summer Games. It costs GBP2,000 for an athlete to attend – funded primarily by friends and family, so any money raised by Domino’s will go towards helping talented athletes realise their dream.”

Domino’s funds will ensure that SOGB can continue to provide its year-round sports programme to the 7,000 athletes it currently serves. It also means that they will be able to reach out to many more thousands of people with learning disabilities who may not currently have the opportunity of taking part in sport at any level.

Domino’s will nationally raise awareness for the partnership and its goals on pizza boxes and via a heavyweight marketing and PR campaign.

If you’d like to get involved just head down to your local Domino’s Pizza store.
