According to the South Florida Business Journal, “DHL Express is using its status as the first international air express carrier to Afghanistan to deliver 6,000 holiday pizzas to U.S. and Canadian troops based there.”

“The Plantation-based company will load Uno’s deep-dish pizzas in Chicago and fly them to service members in time for the Fourth of July and Canadian Independence Day on July 1. The Pizzas 4 Patriots program was created in 2008 by retired Master Sgt. Mark Evans and his 15-year-old son, Kent, as they were eating pizza and wondering if they could somehow deliver freshly frozen Chicago-style pizzas to soldiers overseas, a DHL press release said.”
