Pizza Hut is taking aim at Little Caesars’ $5 Hot-N-Ready special and other fast-food bargains with a $5 menu of its own. But it’s not such a great deal for loners.
Pizza Hut, the No. 2 pizza chain in the country, rolled out its $5 menu last week. Options at the $5 price include a medium one-topping pie, eight boneless WingStreet wings, a double order of breadsticks, and more. But it takes two to tango with this special: You have to buy at least two of the deals, meaning the least you’ll pay is actually $10.

In other words, it’s a 2-for-$10 special rather than a 1-for-$5 deal.
“There’s an incredible variety of food in this lineup,” said Marianne Bradley, chief brand officer for Pizza Hut in the U.S., in a statement. And she’s right about that: Other possibilities on the $5 menu include Pizza Hut’s new Cinnabon Mini Rolls, the Ultimate Hershey’s Chocolate Chip Cookie, the Tuscani Pasta, and the Stuffed Garlic Knots.
Pizza Hut’s $5 menu is the latest in a line of similarly priced deals at fast-food restaurants, including the $5 Fill-Ups at KFC and $5 Buck Boxes at Taco Bell.
