According to a report from Chicagotribune.com, “Once again, the online voters have clicked. Chicago loyalists named Home Run Inn’s pizza the best of 10 candidates for Rachael Ray’s Pizza Throwdown, airing at 2 p.m. Thursday on WBBM-Channel 2. Some New York joint called Gaby’s Pizza will represent the Big Apple.”
The article said, “Joe Perrino, Home Run Inn’s president, thanked the company’s customers in a press release. “2007 is a very special year for Home Run Inn,” he said. “It is our 60th anniversary. Representing Chicago … is an excellent way to commemorate this occasion.” The company still uses the recipe created by founders Nick Perrino and Mary Grittani in 1947.”
