FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Luigi’s Pizza Kitchen in Branson, Mo. is sponsoring their second annual Charity Pizza Eating Competition to benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO).  The event, aptly titled, “PIZZA with a PURPOSE” takes place this SATURDAY, October 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in a GIANT TENT outside Luigi’s NORTH location in Branson (next to Country Mart on Hwy 248).

Chris Jordan, owner and operator of Luigi’s Pizza Kitchen explains, “The event last year was so much fun, we had to do it again.  We love pizza eating contests, and since our anniversary each October coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness month, we decided to use the lure of our delicious food to raise money for an important cause again this year.”

“We’ve built a strong business during our nine years in Branson, and we’re happy to give back to worthy organizations when we can,” Jordan continues.

Individuals wanting to take part in the competition can rest easy knowing that while they are filling their bellies, they are simultaneously supporting the BCFO.  One hundred percent of each $25 participant entry fee will go directly to programs and services operated by the BCFO.

The goal of the contest is to eat one large (14”) thin-crust, cheese pizza in the shortest amount of time.  Individuals will be timed throughout the afternoon, and the winners revealed at the end of the event.  Luigi’s will provide up to $350 in cash prizes, Free Pizza for a Year and other valuable merchandise to the first, second and third place participants.  Last year’s winner, College of the Ozarks student Jeremiah Jones successfully finished his pizza in 3 minutes and 17 seconds.  Jones plans to compete again to defend his title.

In addition to the pizza eating contest, festivities include live music from local band Mile Zero, prizes, raffles, food sampling, a KRZK live radio remote and more.  Participants and spectators will have the opportunity to win free pizza, gift certificates, show tickets and other valuable merchandise.  All money collected during raffle sales will go directly to the BCFO.  Community members are encouraged to stop by and make a ‘drive by donation’ if they are unable to attend the event.
