PMQ Pizza Media, the nation’s leading pizza communications company, is looking for enthusiastic, determined, creative thinkers and hard-working students who can spend 15-20 hours each week at the magazine for a semester or a summer.

EDITORIAL INTERNSHIP

Editorial internships require 15 to 20 a week at the magazine office and/or remotely.  Editorial internships may be paid, for credit hours or both.

Internships last for one semester or summer. Interns will work remotely or from PMQ’s offices in Oxford, Mississippi. You should have experience working in a journalistic environment, be it a professional or a student publication. You’ll be doing plenty of fact-checking and copyediting. You’ll write for our print editions, social media, blogs, and our website, pmq.com. You’ll be involved with larger research projects and editorial brainstorming sessions.

This is a professional role. We take pride when former interns, having honed and expanded their skill set here, move on to full-time positions at magazines, newspapers or other communication jobs. In many cases, they’ve returned to our offices for full-time jobs or become regular freelance contributors.

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

Our website publishes fun, engaging and relevant stories that span industry news, long form features, listicles, food guides and pretty much everything pizza! Social media interns will be tasked with promoting stories on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, expanding our social media presence, engaging with readers across channels and working with our editors to develop new, innovative ways to grow our audience and maximize our brand.  

Internships last for one semester or summer and are virtual but may require some meetings with our staff. The internships require 15 to 20 hours a week and may be paid, for credit hours or both—and you can set your own schedule. 

You should have experience with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You’ll be writing plenty of posts and engaging directly with our audience, so you’ll need to be prepared to write engaging social media hooks, and you’ll definitely need to be enthusiastic about pizza and our magazine.

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP

Our design department is looking for enthusiastic, creative, hard-working students who aspire to be a top designer or art director. The internships require 15 to 20 hours a week at the magazine office and may be paid, for credit hours or both. 

Internships last for one semester or summer. Responsibilities include: assisting at photoshoots, concepting, helping with photo research, laying out pages, scanning images and attending press checks. The intern will also assist in the creation of ads and promo pieces for the sales department, as well as updating data on circulation spec sheets. In addition, interns will assist in keeping track of invoices and updating other spreadsheets.

Interns must be a junior or senior and must be enrolled in a graphic design or related major. You should have an interest in magazine design and working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop on the macOS platform.

PHOTOGRAPHY INTERNSHIP

We are seeking an intern to assist the staff photographer and videographer with projects. This internship requires 15 to 20 a week of work and may be paid, for credit hours or both. Hours can be completed in a combination of on-location photoshoots, at a home computer or at the magazine’s office. Responsibilities include taking photos and video for the magazine, color-correcting photos, resizing photos, attending photoshoots, editing video and working on photo illustrations.

Whether pursuing a photography/videography (or related) major or if you have a passion for photography and video, this internship offers great opportunity for real-life experience. You should have an interest in magazine design, videography, and working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and/or experience editing video. SALES & MARKETING INTERNSHIP

The sales and marketing department is looking for energetic and hardworking students interested in getting into sales and marketing.

The internships require 15 to 20 hours a week at the magazine office and may be paid, for credit hours or both. Interns must be a junior or senior in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related communications field.

Responsibilities vary from gathering research analysis, developing client proposals and presentations, updating media kits and creating advertising boards. Creative writing with experience in writing press releases preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organizational skills are essential. If you have a willingness to actively contribute to a team environment and a passion for sales and marketing, please submit your application online.

VIDEO CREATION/TALENT & PRODUCTION

Our digital content development department is looking for brilliant creatives and young on-camera talent interested in creating video content for our websites, blogs, e-marketing and digital platforms. The internships require 15 to 20 hours a week at the magazine office and may be paid, for credit hours or both. Interns must be a junior or senior in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related communications field.  Interns will be asked to:

  • Assist production staff in developing relevant stories for online streaming and other platforms
  • Produce and edit video content that adhere to company guidelines and standards to share on online channels, including social media platforms and YouTube.
  • Create, produce and “star in” new video content aimed at both B2B and B2C audiences to share on online channels, including social media platforms, and YouTube.
  • Research topics using a variety of sources, including video archives, the internet, library archives and others as needed.
  • Communicate with writers, directors, managers and other members of staff to ensure a smooth running of the project.
  • Provide assistance as needed in all components of the production, including sound, lighting, camera, editing and postproduction.
