Line is now certified by the American Heart Association and includes two new varieties

Camden, NJ (November 12, 2006) – Foodservice customers want it all! As they embrace healthier lifestyles, they’re looking for more nutritious menu options at home and when dining away from home. Coupled with their demand for more nutritious foods is the desire for great tasting and flavor-rich foods. Campbell Away From Home delivers on this challenge with the relaunch of its Campbell’s®Healthy Request® soups.   Every soup is created from recipes using high quality ingredients, and is now seasoned with lower sodium natural sea salt. There are six varieties. Minestrone and vegetable beef join the original line of tomato, chicken noodle, cream of chicken, and cream of mushroom.
Campbell’s Healthy Request soups are now certified by the American Heart Association. This means the soups meet the American Heart Association criteria for their heart-check mark, a symbol that helps people find products that meet nutritional criteria including specific levels of fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. They are the first Campbell foodservice soups to carry the American Heart Association heart-check mark.
“This is an exciting step for Campbell and our operators,” says Joyce Friedberg, senior marketing manager – Campbell Away From Home – Innovation. “We’re continuing our mission to provide innovative and healthier menu choices that deliver great taste. Our Campbell’s Healthy Request line fits this profile, offering a variety of nutritional benefits.”
Campbell’s Healthy Request soups taste great and are:
·                                 98% fat free
·                                 0 grams of trans fat
·                                 Low in saturated fat
·                                 Low in cholesterol
·                                 480 mgs of sodium or less

In addition, each soup has no added MSG and provides a good source of an essential nutrient, such as Vitamin A or potassium. The new minestrone and vegetable beef soups each provide 3/8 cup of vegetables per serving.
“Our new and reformulated soups are part of Campbell’s ongoing commitment to offer more reduced sodium options to our customers,” continues Friedberg. “The Campbell’s Healthy Request relaunch comes on the heels of a major sodium reduction breakthrough for our retail soups which also utilizes our unique lower sodium natural sea salt.”
Varieties of Campbell’s Healthy Request soup can be served as soup, or used as an ingredient in recipes like Quick & Easy Risotto or Sweet & Savory Salmon, offering more nutritious and delicious options for customers. Operators can visit campbellawayfromhome.com for a variety of great tasting, nutritious recipe ideas.
The soup launch is being supported by public relations efforts, advertising, merchandising materials for operators and web-based communications.
