“But when the votes were counted, a clear winner emerged without question: Brixx is the favorite pizza among Port City Foodies readers. The Mayfaire Town Center pizzeria, off Military Cutoff, garnered 65 votes. No other pizzeria came close, although Siena fans rallied for that restaurant (3315 Masonboro Loop Road), earning it 31 votes. Brooklyn Pizza (6932 Market St.) took 11 votes. Other places earned between one and three votes each. All in all, 170 votes were cast, some of which were disqualified due to double or multiple votes from the same source. Brixx pies won praise for their thin, crisp crusts, homemade dough, smoky flavor, fresh toppings and numerous variations including whole-wheat crusts, vegan cheese and 18 topping combinations including pear and gorgonzola, Buffalo chicken, spicy shrimp with roasted red peppers, and chicken Florentine with feta, tomatoes and spinach.”
