MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 1 /CNW/ - Ontario Law Enforcement and Boston Pizza are teaming up to launch a province-wide fundraiser for Special Olympics
Ontario. Boston Pizza will participate in two fundraising drives, "Police...Serving You" and "Toonies for Torches," in support of the Law
Enforcement Torch Run, which is the largest fundraiser for Special Olympics world-wide.    

From May 1 - 25, Boston Pizza restaurants across Ontario invite their guests to donate a toonie for a paper torch, representing the Olympic Flame of
Hope. Guests are asked to write a motivational message to Special Olympics athletes, which will be posted throughout the restaurant. One hundred per cent
of the proceeds generated through the "Toonies for Torches" program will benefit Special Olympics Ontario. Last year, Boston Pizza raised $35,000
across Ontario.

Law Enforcement officers will lend their support at all participating Boston Pizza locations across Ontario from May 23 - 25 for the fundraiser
finale, "Police...Serving You". Officers will partner with servers, hosts and staff to collect donations for Special Olympics Ontario.

Olympics Ontario president, Glenn MacDonell. "Money raised through Boston Pizza will go towards funding sports equipment, facility rentals, Special
Olympics events, athlete training, and the expansion of the Law Enforcement Torch Run."    

Since the inaugural Law Enforcement Torch Run in 1987, more than $19 million has been donated to Special Olympics Ontario to help create 1,688
sports clubs, 16 official sports and 7,000 new athletes. Law Enforcement agencies across Ontario will participate in community based Torch Runs
throughout May and June.
