The Munich Oktoberfest opened for the 181st time. 14 large festival halls and 21 smaller establishments welcomed its visitors, who are expected to reach around 6 million. The Oktoberfest has been around for many years and now a tent kitchen can hardly do it without Rational.
More than 480,000 roasted chickens, 112,000 pork sausages, 78,000 pork knuckles, 114 oxen, and 85 calves were eaten at last year's Oktoberfest. A special cooking appliance is used in almost all of the tent kitchens in order to prepare such quantities at such a consistently superior quality: the Rational SelfCookingCenter®.
The Bavarian manufacturer is represented at the event with a total of 49 table-top and floor units. If you ask the Oktoberfest hosts, they will tell you that the units are very reliable, fast, versatile, and easy to use. “They also deliver the best cooking results from the duck right down to roast beef,” comments Pascal Heide-Nigg, Head Chef of the Pschorr Bräurosl.
Most of the hosts work with Rational all year round in their restaurants and beer gardens. For many of them, no other appliance would be worth considering for such large-scale use at the Oktoberfest. "Not one of the appliances has ever let me down," adds Heide-Nigg. They trust the proven quality of Rational.
Thanks to the SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses, which Rational launched in May, the Oktoberfest hosts can even improve the quality of their cuisine this year.
This appliance is the first cooking system in the world to contain real intelligence and provides a perfect interplay between people and technology. How Rational relieves the chefs from routine and stimulates creativity is shown in the following Oktoberfest clip at: http://www.rational-online.com/en_usa/references/restaurant_hotel/index.html.
