(New York, NY, and Victoria, BC):  ECOvention, LLC of New York, NY, and Ali Baba Pizza of Victoria, British Columbia announced today that Ali Baba Pizza is the first chain in Canada to transition to the multi-functional, eco-friendly GreenBox™ to serve customers at its west coast locations.

Dubbed “the pizza box of the 21st century” by Fox News, the GreenBox™ is a new and exciting re-design of the wasteful and outdated industry-standard pizza box. Made from 100% recycled material, the top of the GreenBox™ breaks down into plates, while the bottom folds into a convenient storage container. The innovative design eliminates the need for disposable plates as well as plastic wrap and aluminum foil for leftovers, and allows for easy disposal into a standard-sized recycling bin.

“We travel all over the world looking for new ideas”, said Mark Murr, CEO of Ali Baba Pizza, “and we are excited to introduce the GreenBox to our customers and pioneer its use in Canada.”

“We are thrilled to see Ali Baba Pizza become the first Canadian pizzeria chain to transition to the GreenBox,” said William Walsh, CEO of ECOvention. “We are proud to be working with a company that shares our mission to promote innovative and responsible food packaging.”

The GreenBox™ has received an exceptionally enthusiastic response from both restaurants and consumers after being placed in the spotlight by American celebrity Ashton Kutcher via a ‘tweet’ to his Twitter followers. Since then, the GreenBox™ has been the subject of unprecedented attention from both the mainstream media and the New Media world of blogs and social networking sites. The demonstration video for the GreenBox™ has already garnered over a million views on YouTube (http://tinyurl.com/ckbawe) and Vimeo.

ECOvention LLC is a design, licensing, manufacturing and subcontract management firm dedicated to improving outmoded, outdated and wasteful food packaging.

Founded in 1986 by Georges Murr, Ali Baba Pizza has now grown to six locations; five in the Victoria area and one at the B.C. Ferry terminal in Vancouver. The family business has been passed along to the second generation, and Ali Baba CEO Mark Murr continues the mission of serving up the best-tasting, freshest pizza in Canada.
