According to the Boston Business Journal, “Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp. is helping throw a huge pizza party for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Last month the nonprofit organization Pizzas 4 Patriots launched and teamed up with the express delivery organization DHL and Uno, with a plan to serve up more than 25,000 pizzas to U.S. service men and women in time for July 4th. The charitable effort has been dubbed “Operation Pizza Surge.”

If successful in serving over 25,000 pizzas, operation pizza surge will be the word’s largest pizza party, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Ret. Master Sergeant Mark Evans of Elk Grove Village, Ill., organized the event. Evans has teamed with DHL to fill a donated cargo jet with up to 28,000 deep-dish pizzas bought at a reduced price from Uno, which is based in West Roxbury, Mass, the story said.
