Mason Wartman has been featured in PMQ Pizza News and in our weekly newsletter as the originator of this week’s Promotion of the Week.

Philly.com reported Mason Wartman appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday afternoon. Wartman owns Rosa’s Fresh Pizza at 25 S. 11th Street in Philadelphia, where pizza is $1 a slice and $8 for a whole pie.

But that’s not all Rosa’s is known for. Customers have the chance to pay it forward when they purchase their dollar slices; they can also donate an additional dollar to help feed the homeless and those in need. Post-it notes cover the walls inside the shop from patrons wishing those in need some words of encouragement.

Wartman told Ellen his shop feeds 30-40 people in need every day and hopes other companies like his will adopt the food-sharing program to help the Philadelphia community. Always down to help out a good cause, Ellen presented Wartman with a $10,000 check from Shutterfly.
