In recent years, pizza popularity has taken off faster than the rocket in the hit movie Interstellar. Although it's still most frequently consumed in restaurants, innovations in kitchen appliances and exciting recipes have made it easier than ever to make pizza at home.

The food-savvy folks at New Orleans' Nola.com say two appliance manufacturers have released designs for indoor and outdoor pizza ovens. The new Black+Decker 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker fits up to 12-inch family-size pizzas with functions for thin, deep-dish or rising-crust pizzas, as well as frozen snacks. For about $100 more, Cuisinart has a new "Alfrescamore" Portable Outdoor Pizza Oven, which looks rather like a cross between a toaster oven and a George Foreman grill.
