According to AFR.com, Quan has never been to Australia, but the Shanghai businessman is familiar with the recent free-trade agreement and Australia's reputation for high-quality food.

As the owner of Melrose Pizza, a chain with 13 outlets in Shanghai and the nearby city of Suzhou, he has seen the rise of Australia's food industry and has a high regard for it. "The food industry is full of opportunities in Australia," he said. "Australian people are very smart in this area. Australia is known for its rich agricultural resources like milk and cheese."
