School is back all over the country and a Texas pizzeria helped out students in need to return with proper school supplies.

According to Lakewood.advocatemag.com, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company, on lower Greenville Avenue in Dallas, offered a free slice of pizza in exchange for donated school supplies on August 10. Called Slices for Supplies, customers were invited to bring in items, including pencils, notebooks, pens, glue, crayons, or to make a financial donation to support the effort.  The restaurant's owners, Sammy and Molly Mandell, will match the donations dollar for dollar. The donations and supplies are targeted to Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary School, where 98% of the school's students are living in poverty and 68% speak English as a second language. The pizzeria says it gave away more than 60 slices of pizza and collected four extra large boxes of school supplies this year, which go directly to teachers at the Dallas elementary school for distribution to students in need.
