Only a European publication would let two heavyweights fight to a draw.
Anthony Mangieri’s Una Pizza Napoletana, located in New York, is still the best pizzeria on the planet, according to the Italian guide 50 Top Pizza. But, in a repeat of 2022, Mangieri shares that honor with another pizza legend: Francesco Martucci of I Masanielli in Caserta, Italy. But we doubt either one is complaining. Sometimes a tie is still very much a win.
50 Top Pizza announced its list of the world’s best pizzerias on September 8 in a ceremony at the Teatro Mercadante in Naples, Italy.

Mangieri has become something of a fixture at the top of the prestigious ranking. He claimed the No. 1 spot all by himself in 2024, with Martucci taking second place. 50 Top Pizza paired those two master pizzaiolos together at No. 1 a couple of years earlier.
And it should be noted that Martucci tied for No. 1 in 2023 with 10 Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria in Naples, while Mangieri won the No. 2 spot. Clearly, Martucci and Mangieri are the two dominant forces on the world’s pizza scene, at least as far as the Italian experts are concerned. And did we mention that Una Pizza Napoletana also scored a three-peat on 50 Top Pizza’s list of the best pizzerias in the U.S. earlier this year?
“We are very satisfied and honored by what we accomplished in 2025,” the guide’s curators, Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignatoro and Albert Sapere, said in a joint statement. “It was a very gratifying year for us, thanks to a quality pizza community around the world that now knows no bounds.”
Pizza restaurants in 37 countries made this year’s list. As usual, Italy led the pack with 41 pizzerias, followed by the U.S. with 16 and Brazil with six. The most represented cities were Naples and Sao Paulo with five venues each, while New York, Milan and Caserta each placed four honorees on the guide.
Two other U.S. pizzerias landed in this year’s top 10: Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles and Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco at No. 10.
Jay’s Artisan Pizza, out of Buffalo, claimed No. 14, while New York’s Ribalta showed up at No. 19. Chicago-based Robert’s Pizza, meanwhile, bounded up the list from No. 50 in 2024 all the way to No. 26 this year.

Also representing the U.S. in the top 50 were Don Antonio in New York (No. 29); Ken’s Artisan Pizza in Portland, Oregon (No. 43); and Truly Pizza in Dana Point, California, at No. 48.
Miami’s ‘O Munaciello and La Leggenda tied at No. 55, while Pizzeria Beddia in Philadelphia claimed the No. 64 spot. Jersey City’s Razza came in at No. 69, followed by L’Industrie Pizzeria in New York at No. 74, Slice & Pie in Washington D.C. at No. 83, and Taglio in Mineola, New York, at No. 99.
50 Top Pizza praised Una Pizza Napoletana not just for its splendid pizza but for its “attentive service.”
“Anthony Mangieri is a resilient pizza maker,” the guide states. “In a world where many aim to double, triple their locations or even to become a craft chain, he continues to make his pizzas on opening days without pushing too hard and without focusing on the numbers. The name of the pizzeria says it all: Here you will find a Neapolitan pizza, well-cooked, rich in flavors, in five or six variations, with fresh and sought-after products, preceded by light appetizers like a simple plate of olives….Spending an evening here is truly an experience, because it gives the truth of a craftsman who is consistent with himself and his product.”
Meanwhile, Martucci’s “ever-evolving menu,” the guide notes, “tells of intercontinental journeys, physical experiences, and gastronomic curiosities, of [cross-pollinations] between cultures and cooking techniques, ingredients and textures, aromas and bitterness (both from the kitchen and from life). A pizza that maintains its pop soul yet flies, without restraint, towards courageous ambitions….After a long journey of sacrifices faced head-on and without sparing, Martucci has now reached the border between pizza and gastronomic experience in the broadest sense.”
