​Mandolino’s Artisan Pizza, Davidson, NC
This place has only been open since February and it’s already been nominated for a local “Best Of” award. Owned by chef Bill Schutz of Davidson's Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse, the pizzeria serves artisan grandma pies such as the signature Tupelo Honey with ricotta, gorgonzola, fig honey, Calabrian chiles and fresh thyme, along with build-your-own pizzas, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery, Detroit, MI
Barrel-aged sour ales are on tap at this pizzeria and brewery that continues its expansion around Michigan. Its latest outpost recently opened in Grand Rapids, according to WZZM13. In addition to the brewery’s own sour ales, the menu features additional brews on tap, artisan pizzas, truffle fries, sandwiches and salads. The Detroit location has been visited by Food Network TV crews and celebrities such as former President Barack Obama.
Rascal House, Cleveland, OH
Rascal House has been around for more than 40 years, but with a new family member at the helm since 2016, talks of expansion are in the works. According to a story on Cleveland.com, CEO Niko Frangos is looking to expand the brand to five states and 15 additional stores in the next two years. The fast-casual pizza chain currently operates five stores, all in the Cleveland area.
