PMQ Review for

The Pie

www.thepie.com

Here is a great example of what a pizzeria can do with a website. This is a great model for other pizzerias to see how to set up a useful site. Not only does this site allow customers to see the menu, find out if they are in The Pie’s delivery area and purchase merchandise, it also features a live web cam that allows customers to see what’s happening inside the restaurant. This may be a good one to keep an eye on once the Olympics come to Salt Lake. We will also be adding this web cam to PMQ’s PizzaVision. Keep an eye on The Pie.

What we liked about this site:

Delivery Maps – This is a really great idea for a pizzeria’s web site. There are two ways to see the delivery area maps. First, after you click enter on the start up page, there is a "Are you in The Pie’s delivery area" link. This takes you to a really cool looking map of The Pie’s delivery area. Also, on the top of the page there is a pie with wedges that will take you to different areas of their web site. One of them is "Maps," which will let you see different delivery area maps for each of their two locations. Put this in your telephone directory and it’s a great way to let travelers who are staying in motels and Hotels know if they can get a pizza delivered to them.

Live Camera – Click here (it’s one of the slices in the Pie logo at the top of the page) and watch what’s going on inside the restaurant. This is a great idea because it allows customers the chance to see if the restaurant is packed or if seating is available or if they are looking for a "happening" place to eat, it lets them see what is going on. It is also a great way to allow the managers or owners check up on what going on in the restaurant. Give it a few seconds to load if your not using a high speed Internet access line or a DSL.

Menu – View what’s on the menu. Great service for customers.

Merchandise – Clicking this wedge of the Pie logo let’s customers or pizza fans purchase The Pie logoed merchandise. A great idea for promoting your restaurant or generating some additional sales.

Links – This gives locals and travelers a reason to keep visiting the site. Here you can click "local links" and check out where your favorite local band is playing, local college info, links for skiing in Utah and more. Community information is a great idea for a pizzeria’s web site because it gives potential customers a reason to keep visiting, which allows you to expose them to special promotions. Ther eis also a link to several search engines.
