Microsoft Courts Domino's

Masses of people are cloud computing each time they check Hotmail, upload photos to Facebook or buy music on iTunes. Microsoft Corp. says that's just the beginning. It wants the cloud to deliver pizzas.The company has been courting Domino's Pizza to move its online ordering system to Microsoft's cloud service. And Domino's would be just the start of a major business Microsoft wants to dominate in the years to come. Microsoft began selling its cloud-computing services Windows Azure and SQL Server last month, joining other tech companies jostling at the starting line of what could become a wave of opportunity in computing." Domino's Pizza Names New Head of Supply Chain
03/10/2010 - Original Article According to Business Week, "Domino's Pizza Inc. said Monday that John Macksood will become executive vice president of the company's supply-chain operations. Macksood, 47, is a 24-year veteran of Domino's. He was previously second-in-command of the supply-chain operation. Macksood will replace L. David Mounts, who is leaving Domino's on April 1. Mounts will become CEO of Winston-Salem, N.C.-based logistics firm Inmar Inc. Mounts, 46, joined Domino's in October 2005 as chief financial officer and switched to head of supply chain operations in 2007." Read more . . .

Pizza, Soda Tax May Curb Obesity
03/10/2010 - Original Article According to Investors.com, "Putting 18% tax on pizza and soda would likely spur U.S. adults to reduce their calorie intake enough to lower their average weight by 5 pounds a year, a study by the Univ. of N.C. found. Calif. and Philadelphia have introduced legislation to tax soft drinks to try to limit consumption. The researchers estimate that an 18% tax on these foods could cut daily intake by 56 calories a person. Two-thirds of Americans are either overweight or obese, and policymakers are looking at taxing those foods to address the issue." Read more . . .
