The flour flap: When will the dust settle?
The question on every operator’s mind lately has been, “What’s the deal with the price
of flour?” Well, who better to ask than Tom “The Dough Doctor” Lehmann? He answers
the biggest question of 2008 and gives insights into what you can do about it on page 22.
WARNING…WARNING…WARNING
Excuse my preaching, but it’s time again for another online ordering alert. Papa
John’s announced on CNBC last month that for the fi rst time, 20% of its pizza sales
came from online ordering. No wonder Pizza Hut, Domino’s and other pizza chains are
spending millions of dollars training your customers to order pizza through the Internet.
It’s offi cially offi cial: Online ordering must be working! How many pizzas did you
sell online last month? If your customers were buying pizzas online from the other guys,
would you know it?
Online ordering is no longer the best new way to increase sales and ticket averages for
your pizzeria…that was six months ago. The new reality is that today’s pizzeria operators
need online ordering as much as our grandfathers needed the telephone. Get hooked up!
To fi nd out more about the many economical online options pizzerias now have, review
the article “Online Riches” in the January/February 2008 issue of PMQ’s Pizza Magazine
or catch our next issue, when we visit with the country’s most knowledgeable online
ordering experts.
