You Created PMQ’s Biggest Pizza Exhibition EVER.
The Florida Restaurant Show has always been a significant exhibition for the pizza industry simply because of its massive size (15,000 attendees), but two years ago, when a survey revealed that 61% of their attendees were looking for pizza related items, the exhibition promoters contacted PMQ and asked us create a pizza show within their mega restaurant show. We did just that and the result was the hugely successful, first-ever, Orlando Pizza Show. Now with less than two months to go, the 2nd annual Orlando Pizza Show already has more exhibitors signed on than all of last year, with many invaluable, idea-generating, sales-building, labor-saving and dough-spinning thrills to come. We hope to see you there in OrlanDOUGH, as it is affectionately known around the office, on September 7-9. You can register now by going to www.ThePizzaShow.com or call Shelly at 662-234-5481 x136.

RPM Pizza
I hope you’ll read the story about RPM Pizza, which can be find on page 38. RPM is where I started my career in pizza in March of 1982, and where I first learned to manage and market a pizza business. I always like to point out that working for the Muellers was the most valuable business experiences of my career. What the story doesn’t say is that Richard and Glenn Mueller were critically important to the success of the national Domino’s chain through their success, innovation and leadership as the largest and fastest growing franchisee during the wild growth years of the 1980’s. Their success contributed significantly to the national brand. Now you can read how Glenn is still bringing pizza to the masses, some 26 years later.

The American Pizza Championship’s Open Pizza Competition
In response to several requests from operators who wanted to put their best pizza up against any takers, PMQ has decided to host the American Pizza Championship Semi-Finals on September 8th in Orlando. The winner will earn a spot in the invitation-only American Pizza Championship (APC) contest held later that day. The winner from the APC will be invited to represent America in the America’s Plate competition in New York, which takes place in March. The APC winner will also win a trip to compete in Europe. Space is limited for the Semi-Finals, so get registered today by going to www.americanpizzachampionship.com and download the registration form.

Pizza Owner Interviews Galore!
As I was reviewing the issue of PMQ’s Pizza Magzine, I was so impressed at how packed this issue is with pizzeria owner interviews. We revisit Johnny’s Pizza, which first appeared in the Spring 2000 issue, Chef Bruno gives us a glimpse of how Giovani’s Pizza launched, Weihua Watson toured Papa John’s and spoke with their GM of Shanghai operations while in China and gives us the report, in addition to articles on Mamma Rosa’s from Salem, Indiana, Johnny Provolone’s, Alan Murph, who owns 29 Domino’s in the San Antonio area, and the one-man operation known as Paradise Pizza in Reader, West Virginia. This is truly an information-packed issue and we hope you enjoy it.
