To all my PMQ readers, let me begin saying I hope you had a very happy holiday season and New Year. I would also like to take this time to personally thank Steve and Linda Green for the opportunity to work with their magazine over the past year. A lot happened in 2005, so let’s review a few things and see what’s in store for 2006.
I was just looking over the current issue of PMQ and was very happy to see so many familiar faces at PMQ’s New York Pizza Show. I had a lot of fun at the show and sales for the oven company I work for were great. I hope everyone else did equally as well and I’m looking forward to next November. The pizza industry is getting stronger and we are gaining more and more publicity opportunities thanks to appearances like PMQ getting me on The Martha Stewart Show, the New York Pizza Show’s publicity in The Italian Tribune and other national publications and other projects like the movie I was involved in last year called Eddie Monro. I look forward to even more publicity opportunities as we start shooting the new movie The Pizza King in New Jersey and Tampa, Florida, at my restaurant in the spring of 2006. It is a very exciting and funny story about two brothers who each own a pizzeria. One brother is doing well and the other not and the mischievous brother tries to steal the other brother’s recipes because they are rivals. We all know what goes on in a pizzeria; sometimes fun, sometimes stress. We don’t have to see a movie to figure out how funny this will be because we all have rivals, but you’ll have to buy a ticket to see which character I will play. PMQ is also involved with this production and will have U.S. Pizza Team members making cameo appearances, so buy a ticket and check it out. I would also like to thank my producer and good friend, Corey May. Upcoming events for 2006 include me entering a new endeavor in South Beach, Miami, Florida. I’ve been asked to join the family of Chicken N’Grill, a new up-and-coming chain in South Florida, currently owned by Walter Rios of Tri Star Corporation. They will be incorporating the Chef Bruno name with Chicken N’Grill in a side-by-side Italian Restaurant and Chicken N’Grill concept. Within the next two years they expect 50 units. If you haven’t already heard the voice of Chef Bruno, I will be making a lot more noise very soon, so if you are in the South Florida region, hold your ears. Recently over the holiday season, I was asked to go to Iraq and put a group together to feed the troops. Because I love my country and my freedoms here, I was honored by this request. Another surprise, I was recently nominated in Tampa, Florida, for “Man of the Year” with the Leukemia Foundation, but had to decline as my schedule dictates too much of my time during their spring kickoff. For those of you who are familiar with Tom Boyles, he is now a dogcatcher working somewhere in southern Texas. After all, he deserves it and I have had it with those funny cutlines and pictures. Obviously he didn’t get my point with the sword. Perhaps I’ll buy him a bone and send it down his way. Until next time, CIAO! – PMQ – |
