What started out to be a brief look at how Latino flavors have influenced pizza ended up uncovering the next evolution of pizza. Just like Americans took an Italian food, modified it and created the style of pizza we know today, the huge Latino and Hispanic community/market is influencing what may be the standard for pizza tomorrow.
PIZZA INDUSTRY INFORMATION CENTER OPENS IN SINGAPORE
China and other Asian countries are hungry for pizza information, and so was born the Pizza Industry Information Center, which is sponsored by an international alliance of pizza experts, including PMQ, Papa Johns, OneSystem, De Iorio's, Italy's OEM ALI ovens, KR Castlemaine pizza toppings, Williams Refrigeration from Australia, and the world's largest exporter of pizza cheese: New Zealand's Fonterra. The booth will be debuted at Singapore's FHA 2006 Show on April 25-28, 2006. During the show Chef Glenn Austin will be creating great pizza and Chinese PMQ editor Weihua Xiao-Watson will be on hand to translate for any companies or persons interested in being part of the Asian pizza expansion. PMQ plans on creating an additional pavilion in Shanghai and will have PMQ editor-in-chief Tom Boyles and Chinese Editor Weihua Xaio-Watson present in September.
WHERE ARE YOU AND PMQ?
In this and the last couple of issues of PMQ, you've probably seen the photos of readers on vacation, at landmarks or tourist attractions posing with their PMQ. At the end of the year the PMQ staff will get together and go through all the submitted photos of readers with their PMQ and the entrant with the coolest location will be interviewed for a feature in the magazine.
