Lil’ Yachty Hosts Hip-Hop Popup at Delicious Pizza in Hollywood (With Video)

This was the second restaurant takeover for the rising-star rapper, who’s reportedly obsessed with pizza.

Delicious Pizza in Los Angeles turned its kitchen over to 20-year-old rapper Lil’ Yachty for a hip-hop pop-up last weekend. And if you’ve never heard of Lil’ Yachty, don’t look at us—we hadn’t either and had to do a little research.

OK, so it turns out he’s an Atlanta-based artist who, according to the New Yorker, “has become a high-velocity crossover star in hip-hop … Yachty’s tracks, as showcased on two whimsical mixtapes, ‘Lil Boat’ and ‘Summer Songs 2,’ have a proudly childlike quality, built around beats as catchy and as slight as jingles.”

Now it all makes sense.

Anyway, the Delicious Pizza gig—which was supported by loads of free publicity in Billboard, LA Magazine, Food & Wine, the Hollywood Reporter and other publications—is actually Lil’ Yachty’s second pizza pop-up. He’s reportedly obsessed with pizza and claims he has eaten it every day since the second grade, according to Eater.com. He took over Famous Ben’s in Soho and turned it into Yachty’s Pizzeria back in August, and lines reportedly stretched for blocks, although the event was more about selling Yachty’s Pizzeria swag than pizza.

Never mind that there is no actual business called Yachty’s Pizzeria; they’ve got logo-emblazoned satin bomber jackets ($100), limited-edition t-shirts ($30), hoodies ($60) and hats ($30), so what else do they really need?

But the eminently likable and talented Lil’ Yachty is apparently serious about pizza and, as shown in the video below, even donned an apron at Stella Barra Pizzeria in West Hollywood, where he received tips on tossing and stretching dough and making pies from scratch.
