On a daily basis we're all faced with dozens of food choices that pose the question, "Is this the healthiest choice?"

According to a recent survey by Deloitte, 83% of respondents said that the typical fast food menu didn't offer enough healthy choices.

Luckily, pizza is not considered "fast food."

However, while, for the most part, pizza contains healthy ingredients, most people place it on the "banned" list if they are looking to curb calories and eat healthier.

This is especially important to think about when nutritional menu labeling is set to go into effect in 2018 and the numbers will be front and center at many pizzerias.

A recent article in Business Insider says that traditional fast food chains may be dying as healthier chains grow to meet the needs of the modern consumer by offering healthier options at a similar price point. "These rising companies offer nutritious dishes that are just as affordable, convenient, and tasty as the food served at chains like McDonalds and Taco Bell," says the story.

Within the pizza industry, we’ve already seen some of the big chains such as Pizza Hut and Papa John’s eliminate ingredients such as artificial colors, sweeteners and preservatives. This past April, Papa John’s launched a pilot program to introduce organic ingredients at select locations.

Are you offering "healthier" options at your pizzeria? What would your nutritional menu labeling look like if you were asked to display it today?
