 Gourmet Rules:

  • Each Competitor will create one pie for judging. Pie will be from 12-14". Enough to feed all the judges (up to 6) comfortably and fairly.
  • Each Competitor will be allowed to use any ingredients, sauce bases, or dough recipes they can think of.
  • Each competitor will be allowed only 1 Hour to prep,  and 20 minutes to bake. This will be a total of 80 minutes to make and bake your pie. You WILL NOT be allowed to be prepping in the staging area before your time. You WILL NOT be allowed to begin cooking before your 20 minute time frame.  Every minute over will result in deductions from your final score, so have a friend or assistant call out your times for you. There will also be an oven wrangler to help manage time.
  • Do not begin baking before you are given permission to, this will help in timing between the two ovens. Often times the wood fired oven pies come out too quick. We want all your pies to be presented to the judges as fresh as possible. If you are ready to bake early, ask a competition official if you are allowed.
  • Be prepared to answer judges questions about your dough, toppings and cooking procedures at presentation.
  • There will be limited refrigeration and prep space available so  plan accordingly. There will be the basic pizzeria/restaurant .equipment available to prep your ingredients (only during your allotted prep times). If you need any specialized equipment, please remember to bring it with you.
  • Basic peels, pans and screens will be provided by Samosky's Homestyle Pizzeria.
  • You will be allowed to offer a pairing beverage with your pie.
