The link between pizza and community involvement got a little stronger this week through the benevolence of Greenville, South Carolina-based Vic's Pizza.

Greenvilleonline.com reports starting March 26, Vic's will begin donating two large pizzas a week to Miracle Hill Ministries. The fundraising effort, called "Smackdown on Hunger," is an attempt, say Vic's owners Brenda and Austin McCord, to be part of the community that has supported the small pizza shop over the past year. The donated pies will go to Miracle Hill's Renewal Center. The facility houses 24 women ages 18 to 69, who are homeless and are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Most of the center's food comes from Miracle Hill's warehouse, but pizza is not generally in the mix.
