MOD Pizza says the key to its rapid growth is innovation in pizza making — and hiring.
King5.com, website for the local NBC affiliate, reports the Seattle-based pizza shop, is quickly going national and is on pace to more than triple its business within the next year. Co-founder Ally Svenson says the success starts with those behind the counter.
Svenson and her husband Scott say the overnight boom has little to do with the food, but credits the "MOD Squad," their employees, who sometimes have RAP sheets.
The Svensons say thay have no fear of hiring workers with criminal records and even felony convictions."
