Does size matter? If you're going for a Guinness World Record and you've got 18 hours to wait around for the payoff, length means everything. In this case, the tasty record-setter was the world's largest pizza—a nearly mile-long (5,234 feet) margherita pie baked for 18 hours at the Milan Expo 2015. According to Foxnews.com, the mothership of all pizzas was a labor of love for 60-plus Italian pizza-makers who worked through the night June 20. A Guinness judge certified that the cheesy behemoth was indeed the world's longest pizza. Expo organizers said the margherita miler, created in honor of the margherita's 126th birthday, was constructed with 1.7 tons of flour, 1.5 tons of mozzarella, 2 tons of tomato sauce, 5 whole onions and an unknowable supply of olive oil. The record-breaking pizza weighed in at about 5 tons.

With transgender news front and center thanks to Caitlyn Jenner's media debut, an Olympia, Washington, organization is helping LGBT kids cope through the simple healing fellowship of a pizza party. The Olympian reports Pizza Klatch, which has been sharing pizza and support for local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youths and their allies for about eight years, has earned a $25,000 grant from State Farm Insurance Company. The group holds LGBT awareness and education sessions during pizza get-togethers at local high schools. With pies purchased from local pizzerias like Brewery City Pizza or Round Table Pizza, Pizza Klatch holds meetings in nine different local high schools, serving about 60 pizzas to between 175-250 students each week. Each meeting has two trained facilitators, and all students are welcome to come and talk. “It’s just a place where people can feel accepted and loved for exactly who they are,” says Jessica McKimmie, Pizza Klatch executive director.
