The most recent Consumer Reports survey results on the Best and Worst Fast Food Restaurants in America ranked Toledo-based Marco’s Pizza the third best pizza chain nationwide—this is first time Marco’s Pizza has appeared on the list. This Consumer Reports survey was last conducted in 2011. Marco’s Pizza is the fastest-growing pizza company in the U.S. with more than 500 stores in 35 states and the Bahamas.

Nearly 54,000 responses were collected and 96,208 meals consumed at 65 different burger, chicken, Mexican, sandwich and pizza chains. Readers were asked to rate restaurants on a scale of 1 to 10 from least delicious to the tastiest.

“To debut at no. 3 is a testament to our commitment to providing customers with delicious, authentic Italian pizza that people love, yet is still convenient and affordable,” said Jack Butorac, chairman and CEO.

“The results of this survey validate our efforts to achieve a high standard of quality and consistency across our franchises as we position ourselves for rapid growth.”

Marco’s Pizza is the only major national pizza franchise founded by a native Italian. Pasquale “Pat” Giammarco established standards to ensure that consistent levels of quality and freshness are always met. Marco’s Pizza dough is still made fresh in every store, every day, and pizzas are topped with premium meats, fresh never-frozen cheeses, vegetables sliced fresh in-store, and a proprietary sauce recipe that blends imported spices and three types of vine-ripened tomatoes.

With more than 1500 new locations on their way, the company will quadruple its store count in the next few years. For more information on Marco’s Pizza, visit http://marcos.com. For franchising information, visit http://marcosfranchising.com/
