Big Lou’s Draws Crowds with Bloody Good Fundraiser

San Antonio pizza shop collected 187 units of blood in local promo.

Big Lou’s Pizza in San Antonio drew big crowds to draw blood in support of the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center.

According to the pizzeria’s Facebook page, the Big Lou’s Blood Drive collected 187 units of the life-giving liquid, with help from the community and students from East Central High School. Every donor received a free one-topping pizza and a T-shirt, plus a chance to win a number of raffled prizes, including a $100 Big Lou’s gift card, a $200 Mastercard, a $100 gift card to a tattoo parlor, a four-week karate class, movie passes and other items from local businesses.

KSAT.com reports that Big Lou’s owner Brian Lujan’s father suffered from aplastic anemia and needed several transfusions, hence Lujan’s dedication to the cause.

Big Lou’s is also known as the home of the 42” pizza, which has been featured on the Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food. For more on that, watch the video from Texas Country Reporter below:
