PizzaPapali's in downtown Toledo normally keeps its doors closed on Mondays, but the popular pizzeria made an exception earlier this week when it hosted a "Fill the Boot" fundraiser to help the family of a fireman who died in the line of duty. As the Toledo Blaze reports, more than a dozen local firefighters helped out in the cause, making pizzas, pouring beers, serving customers and mingling with the guests as they strived to raise money for the family of James Dickman, who died at the age of 31 after being trapped in an apartment fire. To enhance the atmosphere, a local couple donated flowers to be given to every female diner while Hickory Farms provided gift packets as thanks to employees who donated their off-day to the event. The fundraiser brought in more than $10,000 and generated press coverage from local television stations and newspapers. Prior to this week's event, the Toledo pizza shop also donated 10% of its Jan. 30 sales to the Dickman Family Memorial Fund.
