Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers has launched of their new mobile phone application, karMMa, which serves as a loyalty program in addition to providing users with a digital menu, restaurant locator, nutritional database, and original game. For each transaction at a Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers location, users earn ³karMMA points² by scanning their receipts using QR (Quick Response) technology; the karMMa points are then redeemable for complimentary dishes or Mellow Mushroom merchandise.
An October 2014 survey by the National Restaurant Association shows that a third of consumers are more likely to use technology during their dining experiences than in 2012, while half of consumers who do not use technology options state that they prefer to interact with human beings. The karMMa app aims not to replace the human experience of dining but enhance it by providing customers generous rewards using technology that 70 percent of consumers (and 89.5 of 18-44 year-olds) regularly use.
³Based on the success of our Beer Club loyalty retail program, we wanted to provide regular diners with perks as well,² noted Annica Kreider, Vice President of Brand Development at Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers. ³Since the majority of our customers carry a smart phone, we wanted to use the mobile platform to make redeeming rewards at Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers as convenient as possible.²
