575 Pizzeria Exceeds $10,000 Fundraising Goal for Cancer Patients

The Amarillo company’s One Night Victory promotion supported the 24 Hours in the Canyon Cancer Survivorship Center.

The hard-working staff at 575 Pizzeria in Amarillo has helped build its One Night Victory promo into the second largest fundraiser for a local nonprofit that supports people with cancer.

When Brian Kelleher sets a fundraising goal, he’s not afraid to aim high. The owner of 575 Pizzeria, a two-store eatery in Amarillo, Texas, set out to raise $10,000 in an all-day promotion, called One Night Victory, for the 24 Hours in the Canyon Cancer Survivorship Center—and ended up raising even more.

The final number wasn’t made public at presstime for this story, but the fundraiser definitely exceeded expectations, according to MyHighPlains.com.

The Survivorship Center provides free services and resources to cancer survivors, including children and adults, as soon as they receive their diagnosis. The annual 24 Hours in the Canyon Race, a 24-hour road and mountain bike event in Palo Duro Canyon, takes place in early June to generate operating funds for the Survivorship Center.

The 575 Pizzeria started out as a preregistration event for the race but “morphed into a giant fundraiser,” Kelleher told MyHighPlains.com. After the race itself, the One Night Victory event is the Survivorship Center’s largest fundraiser. It features a variety of craft beers on tap, including Oskar Blues IPA, Dale’s Pale Ale, Beerito Mexican Lager and Mama’s Little Yella Pills. Twenty percent of the event’s proceeds were donated to the Survivorship Center. Customers are also asked to make donations to the nonprofit organization.
